    Raytown Music Academy is owned by Morris Music, LLC. As the sole managing member, Lester Morris is currently teaching out of his home located close to 63rd and Woodson in Raytown, Missouri

  • As a music educator, Mr. Morris' mission is to cast musical visions to his students and bring those visions to reality. Kansas City Young Audiences recognized Mr. Morris for casting musical visions to students by awarding him in the spring of 2018 with their Distinguished Educator of the Year Award.

     

    Mr. Morris taught music in the Kansas City, Missouri, School District from 1994 to 2019. His tenure in this District included teaching Band, Orchestra, Choir, Music Appreciation, and General Music. After retiring in June of 2019, he decided to create a music company primarily dedicated to teaching music.

     

    On August 26, 2019, he established this company as Morris Music, LLC. Even though he has had some private music students, his primary music client has been A-Flat Music Studio Inc. He has been serving this organization since the summer of 2019 as their Beginning Band Instructor and sometimes assisting in conducting performances

     

    In the fall of 2020, during COVID, Mr. Morris began teaching in the Hickman Mills School District where he continued his mission of casting musical visions to his students and bringing those visions to reality. His responsibilities have included teaching Band and Orchestra as well as Music Appreciation. On February 23, 2023, he decided to reopen Morris Music, LLC, teaching piano in his home. On April 13, 2023, at the advice of a music mentor, he established the operating name of this studio as Raytown Music Academy.

     

    Mr. Morris earned his Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Music and Education fom William Jewell College in 1991 and a Master of Arts Degree in Music Performance on the Horn from the University of Central Missouri in 2006.     As a musician, he has played Horn with the Kansas City Wind Symphony, Pleasant Valley Church Orchestra, Northland Cathedral Church Orchestra, Antioch Bible Baptist Church Orchestra, Messiah Project, and the North Start Community Band. He is presently part of the Celebration Orchestra at Connection Point Church in Raytown, Missouri. He has toured performing music in Bulgaria, China, Greece, Japan, Poland, Russia, Thailand, as well as the United States.

     

    He is certified to teach both Instrumental and Vocal Music for grades K-12 in the state of Missouri. He belongs to these professional organizations: NAfME - National Association for Music Educators, MMEA - Missouri Music Educators Association, and MBA - Missouri Bandmasters Association.
